About Free Rein Films

Freedom gives
story its power.

Free Rein Films is an independent production company built around a simple belief: the stories that stay with us are the ones given room to become fully themselves.

We develop film and television with emotional depth, distinctive points of view, and the courage to move beyond convention – stories rooted in human truth, wherever they begin.

Why Free Rein exists

Stories have always been a way of crossing distance – between people, cultures, and the life we know and the life we might imagine.

Free Rein Films exists because the three of us came to storytelling from very different directions but arrived at the same belief: the stories worth pursuing are the ones with something true at their center.

We are drawn to distinctive voices, unexpected perspectives, and stories with the power to transform how we see ourselves and the world around us.

The work gets better when those perspectives collide. That is the freedom in Free Rein.

The Founders

Three perspectives.
One creative instinct.

Jacqueline Blaylock, Tony Chamblee, and David Scott Zeller bring very different experiences to the same creative table – spanning filmmaking, culture, science, investment, technology, international affairs, and lived experience.

What unites them is curiosity: about people, about the world, and about what happens when a familiar story is seen from an unexpected angle.

Jacqueline Blaylock

Co-Founder / Writer / Producer LinkedIn

Jacqueline Blaylock has spent more than twenty-five years helping stories – and the people who tell them – find their way to an audience.

Her career began at the Directors Guild of America, where she gained an early understanding of the creative, business, and institutional forces that shape how films and television are made. She went on to spend more than a decade at The Walt Disney Company in television programming and development, held leadership roles at CBS, served as Director of Creative Affairs for filmmaker Roy Campanella II, and later became President of Duke Media, the production company of acclaimed filmmaker Bill Duke.

Jacqueline also helped lead the Hollywood Black Film Festival for more than a decade, expanding its reach while creating opportunities for thousands of filmmakers. Today, she is a co-founder and partner of The BLK Collective Media Group, where she continues that commitment by building platforms that connect emerging and established storytellers with the resources, relationships, and audiences their work needs to thrive.

At Free Rein Films, Jacqueline brings a rare combination of creative judgment, industry fluency, and a deep understanding of what it takes to move a story from possibility to screen. She is drawn to stories of courage, reinvention, history, and overlooked lives – and to the distinctive voices capable of making those stories unforgettable.

Tony Chamblee

Tony Chamblee

Co-Founder / Writer / Producer LinkedIn

Tony Chamblee has long been fascinated by the ways stories shape how we understand ourselves, and how differently the same world can look when seen through another person’s eyes.

While studying the humanities at Stanford University, he participated in an international honors program exploring film, television, and social change across Europe and Asia. After Stanford, he began his professional creative career as a script reader and development intern at Laurence Mark Productions, first at Twentieth Century-Fox and later at Walt Disney Studios.

Tony went on to spend more than a decade with the Hollywood Black Film Festival as Director of Multimedia & Technology, helping shape its digital identity, audience engagement, and overall event experience alongside Jacqueline Blaylock, founder and executive director Tanya Kersey, and the broader HBFF team. There, he created Project Stargazer, an original NASA collaboration where he mentored filmmakers developing science-fact-based science fiction.

Years spent caring for his parents deepened Tony’s understanding of family, obligation, humor, loss, and reinvention – and ultimately helped inspire the project Another Day in Paradise.

Today, as Chief of Staff at Andromeda Ventures, Tony works alongside founders, scientists, investors, and technologists attempting to turn ambitious ideas into reality, a world that appeals to the same producer’s instincts for imagination, organization, problem-solving, and bringing the right people together.

At Free Rein Films, he is drawn to stories of transformation, identity, love, ambition, family, wonder, and the often-messy distance between the life a person has built and the truth they eventually have to confront.

David Scott Zeller

David Scott Zeller

Co-Founder / Executive Producer LinkedIn

David Scott Zeller approaches story with the curiosity of a scientist, the perspective of an internationalist, and a practical understanding of what it takes to move an ambitious idea from possibility to reality.

With a degree in physics and a background in astrophysics research, David began with questions about discovery, scale, and the universe itself. His career later expanded across communications, branding, international business development, investment, and global partnerships, bringing him into collaborations with scientists, entrepreneurs, universities, governments, investors, and cultural institutions around the world.

That combination gives David a distinctive creative lens. He is interested not only in what a story is about, but in the larger world surrounding it – the culture that produced it, the ideas beneath it, the audience it might reach, and the practical conditions required to bring it fully to life.

His international work has spanned technology transfer, scientific research, sustainability, innovation, and cross-border collaboration. Today, as Operating Partner and Head of Europe for Andromeda Ventures, David helps lead the firm’s European strategy and international expansion, working across capital, strategic partnerships, co-investment opportunities, and allied markets. Drawing on more than twenty-five years connecting venture capital, government, industry, academia, and innovation, he brings Free Rein a valuable fluency in finance, international markets, and the realities of building ambitious ventures.

At Free Rein Films, David is particularly drawn to culturally rich stories with a sense of discovery – stories shaped by music, history, science, identity, and place. He brings a global eye to the slate, a commercial understanding of how ideas travel, and a conviction that artistic ambition and financial intelligence belong in the same conversation.

Stories that transcend.

Free Rein Films creates emotionally resonant stories that cross borders and challenge convention, across film, television, and digital platforms.

Rooted in wonder, transformation, and human truth, we champion distinctive voices and the freedom to imagine without limits.
